WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I wish to take this opportunity to sincerely welcome you to our college website page with the following introductory remarks. This website is an endeavor and a platform for both prospective students and continuing students. It is for prospective students to understand the institution better and for continuing students to share and access critical information.
Education is key to the development of human capital and increasing the skills and knowledge of an individual. His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio’s New Direction Agenda has reiterated the importance of human capital development and the government has provided massive support to higher education and training.
To this end, the vision of MMCET is to become a premier institution that promotes academic achievement and excellence in teacher training in support of the free quality education, development of the middle-level manpower in the scarce technical and vocational disciplines, applied research, consultancy and community service.
In a continuing exercise to achieve these lofty ideals within the constraints of available resources, the welfare of students is a matter of priority in all the campuses of the Polytechnic. As I have constantly reminded my staff, students are our clientele. Consequently, the College is always striving to create an enabling learning environment, in the hostels, classrooms, laboratories, workshops, libraries and the general environment on our campuses.
The College is also making great efforts always to improve the contents of its courses as well as the methods of delivery. A state of the art laboratory has been commissioned. Further, in order that students may be exposed to emerging issues both nationally and globally, there is provision for public lectures by distinguished scholars. In the modern information, communication and technology (ICT) age, no institution of higher learning can afford to be left behind.
Thus, in addition to launching hot spots on our campuses to enhance internet connectivity through wi-fi, provision of office space for lecturers and connectivity of those offices, lecturers’ quarters, students’ hostels, administrative buildings are being actively pursued.
These are measures which will not only give students access to electronic library services but also make delivery of lectures easier and more effective. The College is also making efforts to improve sports and games facilities to ensure that every student is given an opportunity to participate in games and sporting activities in all our campuses.
